Our clients in East Fort Worth had a challenging kitchen and called us for help. The fireplace (that they never used) stood between their living room and kitchen, creating a strong visual divide. The breakfast nook had an octagonal ceiling and columns that seemed to close off the space. With dim lighting and fur-downs above the cabinets, this kitchen felt small and cramped and didn’t function well. We started with a design package, where our design team and an estimator visited with them on-site and talked through their options.
Once we had a plan in place we started by removing the brick fireplace and the wall next to it. We closed off the entrance to the home office and removed the fur-downs to make room for more cabinets. In the breakfast nook, we flattened the ceiling, removed the columns, and opened the wall behind the sink to create a bright open space.
We used all wood semi-custom cabinets to create a two-toned kitchen with a large, double-sided island and perimeter cabinets that reached the ceiling. We installed new tile floors, quartz countertops, and a glass, subway tile backsplash. We also put in all new lighting, including LED can lights and under-cabinet lighting.
